Artist's Statement

As an artist, I am always observing my surroundings for potential paintings, while constantly interpreting my personal vision.  Usually, I will develop a subject that intrigues me through multiple expressions.  Working in a series enables me to explore a subject and know it well enough to express it in many moods.  At the moment, watercolor has my attention.  I love the unexpected surprises that the medium presents and the freedom it provides.  Although I deeply admire painters who are proficient in realism, my goal as an artist is to produce a painting that has the excitement of creation and expression while still offering a subject which invites the viewer to find a sense of joy and shared experience.
